Osun State Commissioner for Education, Mr Folorunsho Bamisayemi, has called on students with special needs to remain focused and avoid whatever could derail them from achieving their goals.
Bamisayemi spoke in Iwo during the monitoring of the ongoing West African Senior School Certificate Examination, where he met Laidi Abdulraman, a visually impaired pupils of Baptist High school, Iwo, who was participating in the examination.
A statement by Roseline Olawuni, the Information Officer, Ministry of Education obtained titled, Dont let anything derail your academic pursuit Osun tells physically challenged students, said Bamisayemi, who observed the visually impaired 18-year old Laidi while a teacher of the school read English Language questions to him, commended the courage and determination of the student.
“I use Master Laidi Abdulrahman, as a point of reference to all pupilsand youths; you can achieve anything if you are determined. As you can see, Laidi is visually impaired and he is taking his Senior School Certificate Examination with the help of a teacher reading the questions to him, this is a testament to the fact that there is ability in disability,” the statement said.
