Foundation Donates Education Materials To Edo IDP Camp Inhabitants

Miss Precious Omoruyi, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of RUYI Child Foundation has called on the government at all levels to partner with relevant agencies and well-meaning Nigerians in bringing succour to the less privileged children at the Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) Camp in Edo State who are in dire need of better life and quality education.

Omoruyi who made the call while presenting writing materials, school sandals and other educational materials to children at the IDP camp in Uhogua, Benin City said the partnership has become necessary as it is the responsibility of all to collaborate and ensure these kids are given the basic education and reintegrated back to the society.

Omoruyi who expressed shock at the poor quality of life at the camp said the government, relevant agencies and well-meaning Nigerians have a lot to do by reaching out to these less privileged persons who need assistance to get quality education and improve their lives.

According to Omoruyi, “I heard about the IDP camp in Edo and decided to come and see things for myself and with what I am seeing here today, we need to do more.

“One of the objectives of the RUYI Child Foundation is to make sure we help the less privileged children get back to school, give them writing materials, and other educational materials and help them get the right education.

“Coming here today, we realize that a lot more needs to be done here, the majority of the children have no school uniform, sandals and writing materials.

“We are using this opportunity to appeal to other Nigerians and the government to reach out and encourage these children and make them feel loved. They are Nigerians and deserve a better life. We should encourage them. Visit them often and if possible, hold Programmes and parties with them”.

Miss Omoruyi and her Team took time to play with the children, engage them in fun exercises and lecture them on safety, good hygiene and the importance of education.

While emphasising the importance of education, Omoruyi noted that it is the key to success and opens up various doors of opportunities as well as helps positioned one for better career choices.

“Education is very important, it is the key to success and it gives one access to limitless doors of opportunities and that is why we try our best to help children who cannot afford to go to school, get back to school with the little we have.

“We also assist those in the schools with writing materials, because we believed that with the right education, one can become better at whatever career path he chooses in future”.

Miss Omoruyi however assured the children that the visit would be the first of much more and also assured them of organizing a love feast for them by December, just as she encouraged the children to be respectful and obedient to their teachers and guardians.

One of the Camp Coordinators, Pastor Evelyn Omijie thanked the RUYI Child Foundation team for their support, saying that their coming has taken a huge burden off their shoulder and brought them so much relief and appealed to other Nigerians to emulate them.
