Old students accuse Kaduna of encroaching into FGC land

The Federal Government College Kaduna Old Students’ Association has alleged that the Kaduna State Government is planning to excise 45 metres of land from the FGC Kaduna compound.

The President, FGC Kaduna Old Students’ Association, Seyi Gambo, alleged that the southwestern end of the school’s fence along the stretch of Umar Mohammed Road had been excised to provide plots for immediate development.

Gambo, who spoke to journalists on behalf of the old students, said, “In 2015  February 12 to be exact, a letter was despatched from the Office of the Director of Basic and Secondary Education department to the Kaduna State Ministry of Lands, Surveys and Country Planning.

“The letter titled, ‘Re: Illegal Access at the southwestern Fence of Federal Government College Malali, Kaduna,’ pointed glowingly to the attempt by the Kaduna State Government to the Minister’s ‘No objection’ to the attempt to excise 45 metres of land from the southwestern end of the fence inwards along the stretch of Umar Mohammed Road to provide plots for immediate development. This request was totally rejected by the Minister of Education, under whose ministry our school falls within.

“This letter was received by the Permanent Secretary of the Kaduna State lands ministry.”

He added that, “Our meeting with the press is to expose all these shenanigans by the Kaduna State government in the illegal excision of the land of our school. Their attempt to get the minister’s ‘No Objection to the Excision of 45 meters of land’ was rebuffed by the FME in 2015.”
